Natural stone, Tokyo studio

We quarry-source slabs, cut and finish them in our own workshop, and sit with you on site to choose stone that answers both the drawing and the structure beneath it.

One roof, quarry to install

We stand between the quarry and the finished room

Most of the trouble with stone happens in the gaps — between the quarry that cut it, the fabricator who shaped it, and the site where it finally lands. We hold all three.

  • Sourcing. We buy direct from verified quarries, inspect each block for colour run and fissures, and reject what will not hold up in use.
  • Fabrication. Our workshop cuts slabs to format, mitres edges and dresses the surface in-house, so dimensions match the drawing exactly.
  • Consultation. We bring samples to the site, read the light and the wear, and advise on the stone and finish that will actually last there.

Choose stone by its application

Every surface asks a different question of the stone — slip, weight, water, wear. Start from the place, not the pattern.

How a stone order runs

Five stages, each with a named contact. You never hand off to a stranger between the quarry and the finished install.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We talk through the room or the site — light, wear, budget and the look you are after. There is no charge for the first conversation.

  2. 02

    Sample selection

We pull candidate stones and send a sample set. You see the real colour and grain in your own light before deciding anything.

  3. 03

    Measurement

A fabricator templates the space on site, recording falls, services and awkward returns so the cut pieces fit the first time.

  4. 04

    Fabrication

The slab is cut, edged and finished in our workshop. Veined stone is laid out and matched by hand before any saw touches it.

  5. 05

    Installation

We set the stone, seal where needed and hand over care notes. Our fitters work with your builder or landscaper directly.

The surface does the work

Finish changes what stone can do

The same block can read as glass or as grit. The finish decides grip, glare and how dirt holds — so we choose it against the use, not the photograph.

  • Honed. A soft matte face that hides scratches and reduces glare — our default for interior floors and quiet countertops.
  • Polished. A mirror surface that pulls the deepest colour and veining out of marble and granite for walls and lobbies.
  • Flamed. Heat opens the surface into a coarse, slip-resistant grain — the right call for exterior steps and wet paving.
  • Bush-hammered. A pitted, tactile texture with strong shadow and grip, used on landscape stone and feature plinths.

From the trade

“They brought three samples to the apartment, held them against the morning light, and talked us out of the one we had set our hearts on. The floor they steered us to has aged exactly as they said it would. That is the whole value of the consultation — they know what the stone will do in a year.”

The sample request program

A photograph lies about stone. The sample program puts real cut pieces in your hand so you judge colour, grain and finish in the light they will actually live in.

  • Tell us the application and we pick up to five candidate stones to match it.
  • Samples ship free across the 23 wards and most of greater Tokyo.
  • The sample fee is credited in full against any order over ten square metres.

Before you ask

Common questions

We price per square metre, set by the material, the finish and the thickness. Edging, cut-outs, mitres and delivery are quoted separately once we have your dimensions. The figures in our catalogue are indicative for a standard honed finish at 20 mm.

For stocked tiles there is no minimum. For full-slab fabrication we usually work from one slab upward. Landscaping orders of paving and setts are quoted by the pallet, and we are happy to supply offcuts for small repairs.

The first consultation is free. A full on-site template and measurement visit carries a fee that is credited back when you proceed with fabrication. Visits across Tokyo are usually booked within a week.

Yes. Our workshop cuts to templates and CAD files for countertops, vanities, hearths, thresholds and bespoke cladding. We will advise early if a drawing asks more of the stone than it can structurally give.

We do, and we partner with several renovation and landscaping firms on trade terms. We hold frost-resistant paving, setts and kerbs in stock and can calibrate thickness for a consistent laying bed on large terraces.
